(NASDAQ: CAPA), a leading provider of Business Information Delivery solutions, today announced Dr. Scheller Cosmetics AG, a colour cosmetics, skin care and oral care enterprise based in Germany, is using Captaris Workflow to automate the approvals process for its research and marketing materials. The enterprise-wide solution has reduced the time-to-market for new products by cutting approval times down from 40 days to as little as seven days.

“Using Captaris Workflow we have reduced time-to-market for our brands so we can more quickly inform customers of all the details they need about the product,” said Denis Weiser, IT project director for Dr. Scheller Cosmetics.

The approvals process was largely paper-based before Dr. Scheller Cosmetics tried its first workflow product. Employees gathered files and filled out forms to be hand-delivered or sent via mail. The company then installed a workflow tool to aid document approval; but the software did not include a process overview capability and lacked the ability to integrate with Microsoft SharePoint Portal Services, Dr. Scheller Cosmetics’ chosen collaboration platform.

Captaris Workflow enables seamless .NET integration with SharePoint Portal Services and the company’s Blending ERP system. “We now have more than 250 processes tied to this one document approval workflow and there is more transparency,” Weiser said. Dr. Scheller Cosmetics employees now complete and manage web forms within the familiar Microsoft SharePoint interface. Captaris Workflow automatically emails tasks, reminder notifications and other messages to stakeholders. Research and marketing collateral approvals that previously took up to 40 days may now be processed in as few as seven days, and online reporting reduces error and eliminates cases of missing data.

“I expect a good return on investment with Captaris Workflow,” Weiser said, “especially as we automate additional business processes.” Future plans include automating other document approval processes, licenses, user software requests and administrative processes such as holiday leave requests and more. Dr. Scheller Cosmetics installed Captaris Workflow with help from German-based solutions provider and Captaris reseller, egsSoft.
