The theme of the workshop is "Web-enabled Business Values". Papers are due August 31, 2005. The workshop will be held prior to the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). Conference Aims and Objectives The rapid development of the Internet and e-commerce has dramatically changed the role of information technologies in contemporary business. The use of Web technology to transform conventional businesses has taken place around the world at an accelerating pace. An expanding array of dynamic, innovative Web-enabled personalized and intelligent applications have been developed and deployed, spanning business intelligence, ERP, CRM, and SCM. Such applications have created significant business values in terms of cost reductions and organizational competitiveness enhancements. The purpose of this workshop is to provide an open forum for e-business researchers and practitioners to share research findings, explore novel ideas, and collectively chart future directions of e-business. We welcome research papers that examine technical, managerial, behavioral, and economic aspects of Web-enabled business solutions and services. The theme of this year’s workshop is on Web-enabled business values. Emphasis will be placed on the use of Web-based systems for service enhancements, enterprise systems integration, business intelligence, and channel improvements. Web intelligence and service integrations using Web technologies are examples of the emerging enablers to create business values through dynamic and/or personalized e-business services and applications. This workshop seeks research articles with a broad coverage of technical, managerial, economic, and strategic issues surrounding e-businesses. Researchers who investigate the modeling, architectural, analytical, theoretical, empirical, and practical issues of Web-enabled business values are particularly encouraged to submit their exciting works to the workshop. Thematic topics and other broader e-business issues include, but are not limited to, the followings: • Web analytics and intelligence • Recommendation or personalization systems • Web mining • On-demand services and computing • Web services and semantic webs • Service-oriented architecture (SOA) • Intelligent e-business systems and applications • Agent-based information systems • e-Business architecture and modeling • Collaborative e-business systems and applications • Global technology outsourcing and systems development for e-business • e-Business standards development • Organizational impact and market structure of e-business • Service-oriented e-business • e-Business process integration and management • Security informatics • Web-based services in health care • e-Business process outsourcing via Web services • Implementation of ERP, CRM, and/or SCM • Web-based knowledge management • Mobile commerce • e-Business strategies and subscription-based services • Research opportunities in e-business • e-Marketplace and B-to-B e-commerce • Enterprise Web portals • Internet marketing • e-Business adoptions and e-transformation • Future trends in e-business Paper Submission and Publication All papers must be submitted on-line at www.web-workshop.org and will be blind reviewed. Authors of the accepted papers will present their works in the workshop. All accepted papers will be included in the proceedings of WEB 2005. Journal Publication Arrangements Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extended works to a special issue on Web-enabled Business Values in Journal of Information Systems and e-Business Management. Additional selected papers will also be channeled for publication considerations by Information and Management, and Journal of Electronic Commerce Research. The workshop chairs will participate in the paper selection and review process for these journal publication opportunities.
