Narrow Wins in Battleground States Predicted to Give Gore 299 Electoral

    BEVERLY, Mass.--((BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 2000--Roadmap Technologies, a leader in 
forecasting software, today announced that Roadmap's Geneva Forecasting software has predicted 
that Vice President Albert Gore will gain a narrow victory in the 2000 Presidential Election 
over Texas Governor George Bush. The Geneva Forecasting software, using a database of statewide 
electoral results from 1948 to 1996, predicts that each candidate will win 25 states in the 
Electoral College with the Vice President also winning the District of Columbia. Gore's 
electoral vote forecast is 299, 29 more than the 270 votes needed to capture the presidency.

    The race for the presidency in 2000 is predicted to be much closer than four years ago. The 
Geneva Forecasting software predicts that the Midwest battleground states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, 
Michigan and Missouri will determine the next president. "In this case, our expert system agrees 
with most political experts in that this race will be won or lost in the Midwest," said Rudolph 
Pizzano, Ph.D., president and CEO of Roadmap Technologies. "What is surprising is the narrowness 
of the predicted margin of victory in these key states. Right now, the software predicts that 
3 out of these 4 states will go with Vice President Gore. A swing of just 20,000 voters would 
give Governor Bush 3 out of the 4 states and a majority in the Electoral College. Voter turnout 
and the size of the vote for 3rd party candidates will be crucial in determining the actual 
outcome."
