SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 4, 2003 -- Actiontec Electronics today introduced a Wireless Bluetooth Headset that enables users to have hands-free conversations over Bluetooth-enabled cellphones, PCs and PDAs without fussing with cables. Roughly the size and shape of a thumb, the $69.95 accessory delivers a clear wireless signal from the cellphone or computing device at a range of 30 feet, up to 4.5 hours of talk time, and approximately 100 hours of standby time -- all in a comfortable-to-wear package that weighs less than an ounce, including the battery.

The Actiontec product hooks over either ear and operates with just two buttons that can be used to answer, redial, hang up with just one or two clicks, or adjust the volume quickly and easily. Cellphone users can also place voice-activated calls over the headset, eliminating the need for manual dialing, if voice activation technology is supported by the phone manufacturer and service provider.

The headset can be used for hands-free, wire-free cellphone conversations while driving or on the run, as well as for making Internet phone calls or using instant message voice chat functions over a Bluetooth-enabled handheld, laptop or desktop computer.

Sound-absorbent padding minimizes outside noise for clear voice reception, and a detachable ear hook permits easy adjustment for the left or right ear. The built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery can be recharged simply by plugging into a power charger with the power cord included in the package. Recharging takes just 4 hours the first time and 2 hours there after.

The product is compatible with all Bluetooth-enabled devices set to Class II ISM (2.4 to 2.48 GHz) with an operating range of 10 meters, including Nokia cellphones. Support of Audio Gateway Profiles is required for operation with Bluetooth-enabled handheld, laptop and desktop computers.
