BW2628 AUG 08,2000 9:18 PACIFIC 12:18 EASTERN ( BW)(MI-COMSHARE)(CSRE) PricewaterhouseCoopers and Comshare Join Forces to Deliver Management Planning and Control Solutions to the Thai Market Business Editors, High-Tech Writers LONDON, UK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 2000--Comshare (Nasdaq:CSRE) Recent economic crisis in Asia-Pacific region created great demand for MPC solutions PricewaterhouseCoopers and Comshare have joined forces to deliver management planning and control (MPC) solutions to the Thai market. PricewaterhouseCoopers Global Risk Management Solutions practice in Bangkok has signed a distributor agreement with Comshare to meet client demand for MPC systems with advanced financial intelligence. Clients will be able to link strategic initiatives to operational plans, monitor performance against plan and take corrective action based on the results, by unifying their standalone planning, budgeting, consolidation, reporting and analysis processes with a single enterprise MPC system. Under the agreement, PricewaterhouseCoopers' team of business consultants resells, implements, trains in and supports the complete range of Comshare's e-business MPC applications. PricewaterhouseCoopers is anticipating huge growth in the demand for MPC systems. "The economic crisis in the Asia Pacific region has raised a much higher level of awareness of the requirement of better MPC systems," says Dr Wattanapenpaiboon, Head of PricewaterhouseCoopers' Data Management practice. "Business operations need to be more dynamic with their planned budgets in order to cope with the actual performance. In addition, the new Thai GAAP is requiring all group companies to disclose consolidated financial information. To manage this dynamic and closed loop of planning and control activities, companies require timely performance information. Most of our audit clients are still using spreadsheets for these processes. Spreadsheets are no longer adequate and our clients recognise the time is right to put flexible and dynamic MPC systems in place." "Comshare's global reputation and well-established experience in providing planning, budgeting, consolidation, reporting and analysis applications that support the MPC process matches exactly what we and our clients are looking for," Dr Wattanapenpaiboon adds. "Previously we could only provide generic OLAP applications. With Comshare we can meet client demand for enterprise financial solutions that are industry standard and run on Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and IBM DB2 as well as OLAP." David Allcock, Vice President of Comshare Worldwide Distributors, adds, "We are extremely pleased to establish a partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers. This is another `Big Five' consultancy that has chosen to formalise a working relationship with Comshare. We look forward to working closely with PricewaterhouseCoopers on activities to take advantage of the huge market for MPC systems in Thailand." PricewaterhouseCoopers is hosting a Comshare workshop on Tuesday, August 15th at its offices at Bangkok City Tower running from 2pm to 5pm.
