EYC selects Netezza to power Retail 2.0™ customer loyalty and segmentation solutions for the retail sector
MARLBOROUGH, MA & RICHMOND, SURREY, UK, September 17, 2009 -- Netezza Corporation (NYSE: NZ), the global leader in data warehouse and analytic appliances, today announced with EYC, provider of Retail 2.0™ analytical solutions, that EYC’s customer and basket level business intelligence software will run on the Netezza data warehouse appliance.
EYC uses high volume customer transaction data to create actionable insight designed to incorporate customer needs into the heart of every operational retailing decision made. Through motivating promotions and personalized marketing EYC helps retailers provide a better shopping experience for their customers by providing decision support such as the right assortment and competitive pricing. This analytical power is further utilized by brand building manufacturers who by using EYC Web-enabled reporting can see the most granular level of insight the instant the customers interact with their brands.
“Retail 2.0 is a movement from analyzing items to a much more intensive process of analyzing baskets at the customer level,” said Jagpal Jheeta, head of Production Systems at EYC. “Deciphering the data generated by millions of customers shopping every day to return a better shopping experience for them requires a lot of expertise and raw processing power. We chose the Netezza appliance for three reasons—the ability to process large amounts of data, the speed to value ratio and Netezza’s responsiveness in dealing with rapidly changing competitive conditions. I am very pleased with the results of running EYC applications on the Netezza system today and we completed a successful test of the newly announced TwinFin platform and have started EYC’s evaluation of the OnStream technology that enables application logic to run on Netezza’s massively parallel architecture.”
“Netezza is pleased to have been selected by EYC,” said Jim Kelly, vice president and general manager of Retail and Consumer Products at Netezza. “Customer centric retailing can only be achieved when insights are being generated at the household-level and actionable by UPC. Analyzing huge volumes of data at such a granular level is extremely difficult but made easier with EYC’s science and deep retail subject matter expertise when powered by the Netezza products.”
